Up and Away - distinguished speaker from MAS

Up and Away!
Captain Devan Pillai from Malaysia Airlines took us on a simulated flight in the cockpit of an
aeroplane which he had especially videoed for the children at their level of understanding. First experienced taking off in the daytime, turning left and right
and landing at night with runway lights. Captain Devan also
talked about his uniform and the children learned that 4
stripes on the sleeves of the jacket means that he is the
Captain/leader of the pilots. He talked
about his cap and what he would put
in his pocket when he goes to work;
and new vocabulary introduced
included epaulet, wing and ear plugs.
During question and answer time, the
children received some tips on how to become a pilot and what kinds of
food they should be eating if they want to be a pilot. The children also
found out that Captain Devan flies a plane with 2 engines called the
Boeing 737. They were very happy and excited as, for most of them, it
was the first time that they have met a REAL pilot!

Easter Break

For the first time in my working life having a break during Easter Season.
Good to say goodbye to our little ones in school amidst the mum's worried faces in keeping the young ones at home in edutainment.
