father and son - Luke 15

Children loved putting on props and creating money today to role-play the above Bible Story.

We used props like the ring and shiny cloak which the father put on the son who rependted and came back to him and said sorry.....

Seth said, I also have to take part in a role play at Sri Cempaka too!

Eat your Greens

Today Ethan asked when we will be able to have ladies fingers for lunch.
He thinks we should harvest and cook the very young growing ladies fingers that we planted in our little garden.
He mentioned that his family even had ladies fingers for dinner yesterday.
Everyone agreed that they would clean, cut and fry them when they are ready fully grown!!

A banana a day keeps the doctor away?

NST published an article "Going bananas for the sake of good health" Mon 21.7.08.

I shared it today with the kids as they had bananas for their morning tea break.

I remember my teacher tell me of "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" during health science lessons.

Check it out:

bananas compared to apples

4 times more protein
2 times more carbohydrates
3 times more phosphorous
5 times the Vitamin A and Iron
2 times more than the other vitamins and minerals.
Rich in potassium
One of the BEST value foods around.

PS
Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time!

My kids were happily swinging on the staircase after tea break!

Welcome back Ali and Malica

A pleasure to have you back in our arms.
The family is back from 1.5 mths of holidays to their homeland.
Mum mentioned that Malica missed Teacher Yan and Me (feel proud and great)
Mum was impressed with the Fitzroy Readers and found it interesting. Malica was also able to read aloud to her parents. Mum also mentioned that Malica took an early interest to reading at a very young age.
Dad mentioned that Ali likes the conducive learning environment at Summer Academy.

Save our garden!!!

6 yr olds Bryan Cheong, Di Heng, Jia Rou, Yi Wen and Brian Tay wrote a note to Teacher Yan to help save the garden. Please help buy insecticides for our garden.

Since Earth Day the kids have had their hands on planting ground nuts, balsam flowers and ladies fingers.
The first attempt of planting ground nuts had to go as lawn grass replaced the school surrounding to make the school look more green.
Today the kids visited their little plot of flowers and vegetables only to find it being attacked by red ants, bugs, grasshopper and snails.
Upon seeing the insects this morning, their first instinct was to use their bare hands to chase the insects away ;o)
